R.Ferri RACING WITH FERRARI Leads Pirelli World Challenge Team and Driver Championships into Mid-Ohio Double-header
TORONTO (29 July 2015) – After a four-week break in the action, things are ready to get very busy in Pirelli World Challenge competition.
This weekend’s annual visit to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course sees the Pirelli World Challenge stage a double-header as R.Ferri RACING WITH FERRARI looks to grow its championship advantage in both the team and driver standings with 12 rounds of racing in the rearview mirror.
The team opened the year with a big victory with the No. 61 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 at the Circuit of the Americas, and has been a championship target for the rest of the field ever since. R.Ferri RACING WITH FERRARI driver Olivier Beretta has made quick work of his first full season of World Challenge competition, scoring wins in the first three race weekends and regularly bringing home podiums when racing fate kept him from victory.
Saturday’s Round 14 and Sunday’s Round 15 could provide some pivotal momentum as the natural terrain road course kicks off a sprint to the end of the Pirelli World Challenge Championship, set to be decided at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on September 13.
The track is one that Beretta knows well, with multiple wins, poles, and podiums in a wide range of racing machines. The team will also be bringing its experience to bear on the 13-turn, 2.258-mile natural terrain circuit that will also play host to the Verizon IndyCar Series as part of the Honda 200 weekend.
